Jesus, try to keep up. Shortly after Fredo asks how to say banana daquiry, Michael introduces him to Johnny Ola and Hyman Roth. Fredo says he never met them before. Of course, Fredo had actually conspired with them to set up the failed hit on Michael at his home. Fredo is weak and stupid, so he clumsily admits within Michael's hearing that Johnny Ola knows how to find strange and sexually depraved entertainment he then says that Hyman Roth doesn't know how to find.

Hopefully in three years you'll look back and think "why did I bother giving a single shit about that?", that is the best case scenario in my opinion. GoT's relevance will start to fade and being a blogger or wikia admin won't mean much of anything.

I think Pamparius is absolutely right about the bigger picture. This is all going to fade to nothing in the fullness of time (and by fullness, I mean 5 years max). This is a hilarious thread to read as an outsider, but man, Dragon, I know you are genuinely angry at the unfairness of the situation, but its not worth losing one second of sleep over.

So let me understand what's going on:

- Wert was (or is) an admin of GoT Wiki.
- Wert can't be bothered to update the Wiki anymore and instead prefers to write on his blog.
- Wert gets invited to cons because he's an admin of GoT Wiki and goes because he probably has nothing better to do with his life.
- Dragon gets invited to cons because he's an admin of GoT Wiki, but can't go because real life.
- Dragon is pissed off because Wert doesn't do his job as a Wiki admin, a job which is completely voluntary and isn't payed as far as I understand.
- Dragon raises a huge fucking storm in a micron-sized teapot.
- Dragon gets his con pass revoked because something he said was understood as a threat against Wert.

I love internet drama.

Real thoughts:

That's the thing, though, it's not a business. Fandom is not a business, and any attempt at shoehorning in a way to get paid as a fan is going to be fleeting. I guess if your objective is to cash in now, while you still can, then more power to you... But from what I can tell the pay off you'll get won't be worth a single minute of time you've invested trying to pull it off and you really have nothing to "cash in" on.

I know you're a student so you've obviously got other things on your plate and other ambitions, so it makes me curious why you'd attach yourself (and your considerable passion) to something that really doesn't have a bottom line in terms of business. I mean it's not like doing this will make you rich and famous and how much of a springboard to bigger and better things can it really be? the only fans that seem to make a real living (of fbeing fans) are Elio and Linda and that's probably primarily because of this book they're about to release under the auspices of George R. R. Martin's world/writing.

My gut feeling is that in order to make a real living you'd have to be closer to the man himself and I would be willing to bet there ain't much room left at the fat man's table and I'd also be willing to bet my bottom dollar that Linda and Elio will see any other fans "getting close" to the source as encroaching on their meal ticket.
